Application of composite Germanium neutron monochromators at SINQ: neutron powder diffraction (HRPT) and single crystal diffraction (TriCS)

Two vertically focusing composite germanium monochromators have been built by PSI and are now in use at the two thermal diffraction instruments at SINQ. A 28 cm high unit is used by the HRPT and a smaller, 13 cm high unit, at the single-crystal diffractometer TriCS. Both instruments are presently in their test phase with first 'real' experiments.
