Thiospinel CuCrZrS4 exhibits ferromagnetic properties below its Curie temperature at T-C = 60 K. X-ray diffraction studies and the electrical resistance measurements were carried out on the thiospinel under high pressure up to 50 and 58 GPa, respectively, at room temperature using a diamond-anvil cell. X-ray powder diffraction studies elucidated that a new high-pressure phase existed above 15Gpa. An anomaly in the electrical resistance was observed at around 15GPa, which is associated with structure transition to a high-pressure phase discovered by X-ray diffraction. Temperature dependence of the electrical resistance measurements revealed that CuCrZrS4 transforms from semi conductive to metallic compound under high pressure. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V.
