Non-Fermi-liquid behavior in CeRhBi and valence-fluctuating behavior in CeIrSb

摘要

We report the measurements of magnetic susceptibility chi, specific heat C, electrical resistivity rho, and thermopower S of CeRhBi and CeIrSb, which are isostructural to the Kondo semimetal CeRhSb. For CeRhBi, C/T turns upward with decreasing temperature below 8 K, and increases in proportion to - log T down to 0.6 K. Non-Fermi-liquid behavior appears also in rho(T) and chi(T); rho proportional to T (0.4 K < T < 4 K) and chi proportional to T-1/4 (2 K < T < 7 K). These observations indicate that CeRhBi is a system located in the vicinity of a quantum critical point. CeIrSb, on the other hand, is classified as a valence fluctuating system from a large negative paramagnetic Curie temperature of - 1300 K and a broad maximum of S(T) at 130 K. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V.
