Bulk-sensitive high-energy and high-resolution photoemission study of strongly correlated Ce compounds

Bulk-sensitive Ce 3d-4f resonance photoemission with an unprecedentedly high resolution has revealed clear differences of bulk 4f spectral weights near the Fermi level of very strongly hybridized CeRu2, moderately hybridized CeRu2Si2 and weakly hybridized CeB6 and CeRu2Ge2, reflecting their Kondo temperatures. The bulk spectra of CeRu2 are explained by a band-structure calculation (itinerant model) whereas the other spectra are well reproduced by calculations based on the single impurity Anderson model (model from a localized limit).
