摘要

The 3s photoemission spectra of 3d-transition-metal atoms adsorbed on graphite are calculated with a cluster model. In addition to exchange splitting, the spectra show charge transfer satellites from final state core hole screening by the graphite #pi#-band. For the late 3d elements, exchange and charge transfer satellites are strongly mixed, which leads essentially to a three peak structure of the spectra.
