The spin polarization of a 2D electron gas is studied for values of the Landau filling factor v around unity in a CdTe (0.22% Mn) quantum well with g-factor tunable through zero. Anomalies in the circular polarization of the trion absorption for filling factor v < 1 might be due to skyrmion excitations. In this hypothesis, as the g-factor increases, the number of reversed spins per skyrmion decreases from 9 to 1. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. [References: 13]
