In Vicia narbonensis, 28 accessions belonging to V. narbonensis, V. narbonensis ssp. narbonensis, V. narbonensis ssp. aegyptica, V. narbonensis ssp. affinis, V. narbonensis ssp. jordanica and V. narbonensis ssp. salmonea did not show any detectable differences with respect to chromosome associations, chiasma frequency, anaphase I distribution and subsequent course of meiosis. Stray incidence of univalents in the PMCs of a few accessions behaved more or less normally at anaphase I leading to organizedand (or) equal distribution of chromosomes at respective poles. Two plants one each isolated from an accession each were characterized by the occurrence of interchange heterozygosity involving two and three nonhomologous chromosomes pairs, respectivelyresulting in ring or chain of four and six chromosomes, respectively. One plant from an accessin had one to -100 nucleoli.
