摘要

Glycyrrhiza glabra L., liquorice and licoriceis, is a small perennial shrub of family Fabaceae. The medicinal properties of Glycyrrhiza are attributed to the acidic constituent called glycyrrhizic acid present in its roots as a secondary metabolite. It shows antipyretic, antidiabetic, analgesic, diuretics, laxatives, demulcent, emollient, expectorant and anti-cancer properties. Bud break response in its nodal segments was achieved within three weeks of inoculation on MS medium supplemented with 2.0-4.0 mg/l BAP. 85-90%. One to two shoots were produced on MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l BAP. The regenerated shoots were isolated and subcultured on MS medium supplemented with BAP (1.0-5.0 mg/l), Kn (1.0-5.0 mg/l) and adenine sulphate (0-100 mg/l) for in vitro shoot multiplication. 8-9 folds shoot multiplication rate of 8 to 9 fold was observed on MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l BAP, 0.5 mg/l Kn and 50 mg/l adenine sulphate. Rooting of these in vitro raised shoots was observed on half strength MS medium supplemented with 0.1-4.0 mg/l IAA. Tissue culture raised plantlets were hardened and acclimatized in mist chamber and shade house conditions for two months.
