摘要

High frequency somatic embryogenesis and subsequent plant regeneration were established from immature cotyledons of Salvadora persica L. Embryogenic calli were induced on Murashige and Skoog's medium supplemented with 2.5 mg/l 2,4-D and 0.5 mg/l Kn. Embryoids developed after 2-3 subculture on the same medium but with the addition of Proline at 20 mg/l. Somatic embryos matured on the above medium except proline, germination and optimal rooting was achieved on half strength MS medium devoid of any phytohormones but having 0.1% activated charcoal. The regenerated plantlets were successfully hardened and acclimatized in pots containing mixture of garden soil, manure and sand (1:1:1), with 65-70% survival rate in field.
