摘要

The Tm3+ : 5NaF-9YF(3) single crystals were grown by Czochralski pulling technique after purification of the starting materials. The obtained crystals are of good optical quality. Optical absorption of this material is investigated. The Judd - Ofelt (JO) analysis was applied to the room temperature absorption intensities of Tm3+ ions to determine the so-called JO intensity parameters and the transition strengths. These JO parameters are used to calculate the radiative transition probabilities, the radiation lifetimes and the branching ratios. The results obtained indicate that Tm3+ : 5NaF- 9YF(3) may be considered as a laser active material.
