Today, Pilkington is recognised as the technological leader in the global flat glass industry, with manufacturing operations in 24 countries across five continents, sales in 130 countries, and an annual turnover approaching ￡3b. The Greengate site has two float lines for producing flat glass, which are operational 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, without a break. Together the lines produce around 8000 tonnes of glass a week, enough to cover more than 100 full size football pitches.
