Quality control of wide collections of PV modules: lessons learned from the IES experience

This paper presents the Quality control methodfor PV modules developed by the Instituto de Energia Solar(IES), an institution with almost 10 years of experience in thefield of Quality Control of PV modules associated with supplyprocedures of PV projects. The method is easy and fast toimplement. It consists of Technical and Contractualprocedures, both closely related. Concerning the firstprocedure, detailed description is offered of the type ofmeasurements performed, equipments used, data processingand steadiness control of the method. Regarding thecontractual procedure, after its detailed description anexample coming from the Toledo PV plant is offered andcommented. The paper then summarises the IES experience onQuality Control processes, together with additionalinformation about time requirements and costs of the IESmethod. IN addition, some reflections upon the possibleadoption of the method by countries involved in PV RuralElectrification programmes are finally included.
