A cluster-cluster aggregation model is introduced, the variable-D model, which is able to build aggregates, either on lattice or off lattice, with various fractal dimensions ranging from 1 up to 2.5. This model is systematically used to investigate several characteristics of the aggregates as a function of their fractal dimensions, namely their intrinsic anisotropy coefficient and their density of vibrational states, calculated using a fast 'spectral moments' method, with interactions represented by the Born scalar model.
