Nanostructured Co-Ag and Co-Pt thin films from clusters

Co-nanoclusters prepared in the gas phase are embedded in miscible Pt or non-miscible Ag matrices using a codeposition technique. Structural characterizations using X-ray absorption and photoemission spectroscopies are performed. For both Co/Pt and Co/Ag films we observe nanostructured morphologies consisting of well-crystallized Co nanoparticles randomly distributed in the polycrystalline metallic matrices. Such results indicate a limited alloying effect at the interface. It is particularly interesting in the case of miscible elements with a view to preparing original nanostructured systems for specific applications in various fields (magnetic, optoelectronic, devices, etc).
