摘要

The monochromatic (308 nm) excimer light (MEL) is currently being used for the treatment of psoriasis. MEL operates within the therapeutic spectrum of ultraviolet (UV), which is associated with significant T-cell depletion. It is advantageous because larger lesional areas can be selectively treated in a single session. In this study we evaluated the safety and- efficacy of MEL for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris and palmoplantar psoriasis in Asian patients. We report a 75% improvement in the mean psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) of patients with psoriasis vulgaris and a 53% improvement in the mean severity index (SI) of patients with palmoplantar psoriasis following 16 and 25 MEL treatments respectively. Our results support MEL as a safe and effective treatment modality for psoriasis.
