Taiwan's IDB Grants Formosa Plants More Time to Coordinate Closures

Taipei—The Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) of Taiwan has agreed to delay the closure of petrochemical facilities in Formosa Plastics Group's Mailiao complex, allowing the companies involved to coordinate their shutdowns. There have been eight fires at the Mailiao complex since July 2010 and FPG has been ordered by the government to close all units so that safety inspections can be conducted (PCN, 12 Sept 2011, p 2).
