Sinopec, Mitsui Shanghai JV to Build Phenol & Acetone Facilities in China

Shanshai-China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) and Mitsui Chemicals' Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui Chemicals Co. joint venture will spend about yuna 30-billion to build a facility for the production of phenol and acetone, reported local sources.The new plant will have the capacity to produce 250,000 t/y of phenol and 150,000 t/y of acetone. Operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2013.
