STUDY ON NEEM BASED PESTICIDES AND FERTILIZERS ADOPTED BY THE FARMERS OF SOUTH 24 PARGANAS DISTRICT OF WEST BENGAL

Increased and indiscriminate use of agro-chemicals has led to a number of new problems emersged especially in the field of plant protection. Biopesticides are one broad spectrum of plant protection methods that are supportive to the environment. Amongthe several organic fertilizers and botanical pesticides neem (Azadirachta indica) had occupied the considerable status for its distinctiveness in this regard. Keeping this in view, the present study had constructed on neem based pesticides and fertilizers utilization. The study was undertaken in the state of West Bengal. The study revealed that potentiality of this technology in forthcoming days is very good, it was reported by majority of the respondents (92%). Therefore, there is need to manipulatethese findings by the extension agencies for disseminating this technology in a effective way to the farmers of social system in support of sustainable agriculture and the protection of environmental equillibrium.
