EFFICACY OF FARMERS' INNOVATIVE PLANT PROTECTION PRACTICES AGAINST SOME PESTS OF COTTON UNDER LABORATORY CONDITION

The investigations were carried out on efficacy of farmers' innovative plant protection practices against some pests of cotton under laboratory condition at Sardarkrushinagar during kharif, 2006. The laboratory experiment carried out during kharif, 2006 revealed that most of the treatments alone and enriched with fermented cow urine performed well against aphid, red cotton bug and H, armigera in cotton. Among various treatments, the neem oil enriche with fermented cow urine and Uplenchwar mixture registered considerable aphid mortality. Among innovative practices, the maximum mortality of red cotton bug was observed in ^e treatment of neem oil enriched with fermented cow urine (66.65%), fermented butter milk of cow (65.13%) and neem oil (55.32%) andproved effective treatments while remaining treatments proved completely ineffective against redcotton bug.Among the farmers' innovative practices, Banas mixture (1.0%), neem oil enriched with fermented cow urine, Banas mixture (0.5%), neem oil, Uplenchwar mixture and fermented butter milk of cow proved superior and registered 49.04, 46.78, 45.15, 42.08, 41.17 and 40.03 per cent larval mortality of Helicoverpa.
