Mumbai—Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), in reporting its financial performance for the second quarter and first half year ended 30 Sept. 2011, said its "record" net profit of Rs 11,364 crore ($2.3-billion) for the six month period represented a 16.3% increase from the same 2010 half year period. "The increase in profits was largely driven by improved performance in the refining and petrochemicals business," commented RIL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh D. Ambani. "All of our manufacturing facilities operated at record levels with refineries achieving operating rates of 110%," he noted.
