Socar Submits Feasibility Study For Baku PC/Refinery Complex

Baku—State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan (Socar) has completed and submitted to the Cabinet Ministers and the Presidential Administration the feasibility study for a petrochemical and refining complex planned for Baku, Azerbaijan (PCN, 18 July 2011, p 1). Plans for the complex include a gas processing facility to produce ethane, propane, butane and methane; a 10-million-t/y refinery with 20 processing units, and production of 670,000 t/y of polyethylene and 550,000 t/y of polypropylene, said a report quoting Tofig Gahramanov, Socar's vice president for strategic planning.
