Wanhua Industrial Exercises Option To Gain Full Control of Borsodchem

Budapest—Wanhua Industrial Group has taken full control of Borsodchem by exercising a call option to acquire the shares that had been held by Permira and Vienna Capital Partners (VCP). Wanhua was granted the call option as part of Borsod-chem's financial restructuring last year (PCN, 8 Mar 2010, p 2). Wanhua provided Borsodchem with ?140-million, which Borsodchem has been using to complete construction of a 200,000-t/y toluene diisocyanate (TDI) plant and new nitric acid facility. Borsodchem currently has 300,000 t/y of diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) capacity.
