Petrobras Proceeding with Urea Plans; Awards Project Work to Stamicarbon

Rio de Janeiro—Petroleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) has decided to proceed with plans for the production of urea in Tres Lagoas, Brazil, where it is also building a grassroots ammonia plant (PCN, 28 June 2010, p 1). Petrobras has awarded Stamicarbon a contract for the supply of proprietary high-pressure equipment and piping for the project, which will have 3,600 t/d of urea capacity. Stamicarbon noted that this contract "is the biggest ever signed" within Stamicarbon's urea business.
