Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Starts Trial Operations in Expanded Refinery

Fujian-Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Co. Ltd. (FREP) has started trial operations at its expanded refinery in Guangzhou, China, announced Sinopec, a partner in the company. The refinery's capacity has been tripled to 240,000 b/d from 80,000 b/d and is part of a $5-billion complex that also includes an 800,000-t/y ethylene cracker and downstream units for the production of 800,000 t/y of polyethylene, 400,000 t/y of polypropylene and 700,000 t/y of paraxylene (PCN, 30 Mar 09, p 3).
