BASF and Dow Launch Production Using HPPO Process in Antwerp

Antwerp-BASF and Dow Chemical Co. have begun production at the "world's first commercial-scale" hydrogen peroxide (HP) to propylene oxide (HPPO) plant at BASF's Antwerp, Belgium, complex (PCN, 2 Oct 06, p 1). The facility, designed to produce 300,000 t/y of propylene oxide, is based on technology developed jointly by BASF and Dow and equally-owned by both companies. An HP plant in Antwerp will provide feedstock for the new unit.
