Ecopetrol Finalizes Propilco Purchase; Increasing PP Capacity to 500.000 T/Y

Bosata-Colombia's Ecopetrol said it has completed the acquisition of 100% of polypropylene (PP) producer Polipropileno del Caribe (Propilco) for $690-million (PCN, 17 Mar 08, p 1). Propilco now has 380,000 t/y of PP capacity, but plans call for expanding capacity to 500,000 t/y in 2010, reported Business News Americas citing a statement by Ecopetrol.
