Aramco & Total Award Samsung Contract For Construction of Jubail P-Xvlene Plant

Jubail- Saudi Aramco and Total awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract to Samsung Engineering for a 700,000-t/y paraxylene facility being built at their joint venture Jubail refinery and petrochemical complex (PCN, 22 June 09, p 1). The joint venture, Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Co. (Satorp), is building a "full conversion" refinery, which will process Arabian heavy crude, maximize production of diesel and jet fuels and will include 140,000 t/y of benzene and 200,000 t/y of polymer-grade propylene production.
