Hanwha Is Joining Sipchem's Project To Produce EVA, Polyvinyl Products

Jubail-Hanwha Chemical Corp. and Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) have signed a joint venture agreement in which Hanwha will join Sipchem in a project to build facilities for ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and polyvinyl products (PCN, 25 May 09, p 1). The project, expected to cost about $l.l-billion, will be located at Sipchem's site in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and will include a new 200,000-t/y EVA plant and 125,000-t/y polyvinyl acetate facility. Start-up is planned by the end of 2013.
