KBR Wins Chinese Olefins Project; First Use of Its ACQ Technology

Shaanxi—KBR has been awarded a license and process design package for a new olefins production unit being built by Shaanxi Yan-chang Petroleum Yanan Energy and Chemical Co. in Luo-yang Village, Shaanxi Province, China. This award represents the first license using its Advanced Catalytic Olefins (ACO) technology, which, KBR explained, catalytically cracks naphtha and other straight run feeds to produce olefins yields that surpass those available from traditional steam cracking technology. The Chinese project will have a capacity of about 200,000 t/y of ethylene and propylene.
