DAK Americas Signs Deal to Purchase Wellman's PET Business in the U.S.

Monterrey-Alfasaid its DAK Americas subsidiary has reached an agreement to acquire the U.S. polyethylene terephthalate (PET) business of Wellman for about $185-million, including a cash payment and assumption of certain liabilities.The acquisition involves PET resin production facilities in Bay St. Louis, Miss., which have approximately 430,000 t/y of capacity and employ 165 people. Subject to customary regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of this year.
