Labuan-Malaysia's Petronas has been forced to shut down a methanol plant at its Labuan, Malaysia, complex as the result of a 22 Feb. explosion at the facility. State news agency Bernama, quoting a company spokesman, reported that the explosion occurred in the methanol plant's controlled natural gas flare tip. The cause of the incident is being investigated and further details, including an anticipated restart schedule, were not available.
