Fujian Refinery & Petrochem Complex Expected to Begin Production in June

Fujian-Fujian Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd. expects its integrated refinery and petrochemical complex at Guangzhou, China, to begin operations in late June, according to local industry sources. The project, a joint venture of Saudi Aramco, Sinopec's Fujian Petrochemical and ExxonMobil, has invested $5-billion to triple the capacity of an existing refinery to 240,000 b/d, and build facilities to produce 800,000 t/y of ethylene, 800,000 t/y of polyethylene, 400,000 t/y of polypropylene and 700,000 t/y of paraxylene (PCN, 16 June 08, p 3).
