Russia Approves EuroChem's Proposal For Country's First Melamine Project

Moscow-Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved EuroChem's plan to build Russia's first facility for the production of melamine (PCN, 19 May 08, p 3). The project, to be implemented by EuroChem's Nevinno-myssky Azot subsidiary in Nevinnomyssk, will have 50,000 t/y of melamine capacity and is expected to cost ?184-million. Production is expected to begin in 2011 and will "satisfy all existing needs of the Russian market" for melamine, EuroChem said.
