Engro's New Ammonia, Urea Project To Incorporate CQ2 Recovery Unit

Karachi-Engro Chemical Pakistan Ltd. is including a carbon dioxide (C02) recovery unit in its new 2,200-t/d ammonia and 3,835-t/d urea project in Daharki, Pakistan (PCN, 15 Oct 07, p 2). Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) said it has signed an agreement licensing Engro to use its KM CDR technology to recover 340 t/d, or about 90%, of C02 from flue gas emitted from the plant and utilize the captured C02 to increase urea production. The recovery unit is scheduled for completion in July 2010.
