OPAL Selects Mitsui's Technology For HDPE Production at Dahei

Vadodara-ONGC Petro-Additions Ltd. (OPAL) will use Mitsui Chemicals' high-density polyethylene (HDPE) technology for a new 340,000-t/y plant being built in Dahej, Gujarat, India (PCN, 4 July 2011, p 1). OPAL, a joint venture of Oil and Natural Gas Corp., Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. and GAIL, recently awarded Samsung Engineering a $229-million contract for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the HDPE project, which is tentatively scheduled to begin commercial production in 2014.
