San Diego—Genomatica has raised another $15-million in a first close of its Series C funding round, which will be used to accelerate the development of its production of 1,4-butanediol (BDO) from sugar and water (PCN, 8 June 09, p 3). TPG Biotech led the new investment, joining previous backers Mohr Davidow Ventures, Alloy Ventures and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
