Teijin Begins Producing Bioplastic At Japanese Demonstration Plant

Tokyo-Teijin Ltd. said it has begun the production of Biofront, a proprietary heat-resistant bioplastic, at a demonstration unit in Ma-tsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. Teijin currently produces 200 t/y of Biofront at a pilot plant in Iwakuni, where it also conducts research and development. The additional capacity from the demonstration facility brings Teijin's total capacity to 1,000 t/y, enabling the company to begin developing a full-scale market for Biofront, Teijin noted.
