Teknor Apex Licenses Cerestech Process For Producing Bioplastics from Starch

Pawtucket, R.I.- Teknor Apex has signed a licensing agreement with Cerestech Inc. to manufacture and market products based on Cerestech's patented technology, which produces bioplastics from starch. The "relatively low-cost" technology involves preparing thermoplastic starch from starch granules and combining it as a masterbatch with bioplastics like polylactic acid, polyhy-droxyalkanoates, or with petrochemical-based polymers such as polyethylene, Teknor Apex said.
