Ube Spending 3.7-BN Over 3 Yrs To Expand Capacity in Thailand

Bangkok-Ube Industries plans to invest 3.7-billion baht over the next two to three years in Thailand, a plan that includes tripling nylon capacity, increasing caprolactam capacity and moving into specialty chemicals production, according to Bangkok press reports. Among the company's plans is a 1.4-billion baht project to boost the capacity of its Ube Nylon Ltd. facility in Eayong to 75,000 t/y from 25,000 t/y (PCN, 7 May 07, p 1). Once completed in October 2009, the company expects to export about half of the plant's production.
