DuPont Opens Changshu PTFE Unit

Changshu-DuPont said it has started up a new polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) plant in Changshu, China, marking a "significant milestone" in its plan to establish a broader fluoroproducts production base in China. The new plant, for which capacity was not disclosed, is based on DuPont's Echelon technology that produces low-perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) content aqueous fluoropolymer dispersions. The company also uses its Echelon technology at plants in Parkersburg, W. Va.; Dordrecht, the Netherlands, and Shimizu, Japan.
