Basell Completes Sale of Sarnia Polypropylene Assets to Shell

Sarnia-Basell Canada has sold the polypropylene (PP) assets at its Sarnia, Ontario, site to Shell's Canadian affiliates for an undisclosed amount. Last year, Basell announced it would stop producing PP at the Sarnia plant in mid-2008 because operating costs were no longer competitive, and would then shift production to other Basell sites utilizing the Spheripol and Spherizone process technologies (PCN, 22 Oct 07, p 1).
