Air Liquide Awarded Two Contracts For Portuguese Ethylene, PTA Units

Paris-Air Liquide said it has signed two long-term contracts for the supply of nitrogen in connection with a new ethylene cracker and a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Portugal. The company signed a contract with Repsol Polimeros to supply nitrogen to Repsol's expansion project in Sines (PCN, 20 Oct 08, p 1). That project will increase Repsol's ethylene capacity at the site to 570,000 t/y and includes a 300,000-t/y linear low-density polyethylene unit and a 300,000-t/y polypropylene plant. Completion is scheduled in 2010.
