IRP Investing 15-Milliori to Expand Thai PET Capacity by 60.000 Tons

Bangkok-Indorama Polymers(IRP)said it will spend 15-million to expand polyethylene terephthalate(PET)capacity by 60,000 t/y in Lop-buri,Thailand.The project,which will make IRP the "largest" PET producer in the country,will raise PET capacity to 180,000 t/y from 120,000 t/y currently and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2008.IRP noted that global PET demand is around 12-million tons and continues to grow by 8% to 9% annually.
