Bayer Increases Proposed Capacity For Shanghai TDI Production Unit

Shanghai-Bayer MaterialScience said it plans to boost the capacity of a toluene diisocyanate(TDI)plant being built in Shanghai,China,to 300,000 t/y from the original proposal of 160,000 t/y(PCN,25 Sept 06,p 3).The company,planning to invest a total of 1.8-billion at the Shanghai site by 2009,is also building a 350,000-t/y di-phenylmethane diisocyanate plant at Shanghai.The approval procedures for the expanded TDI capacity have already been initiated,Bayer added.
