To investigate the bio-efficacy of metominostrobin 20SC against sheath blight disease of rice along with hexaconazole, tricyclazole, etc., it was found that two sprays of metominostronbin 20SC @ 200 g a.i. ha~(-1) (2 ml l~(-1) water) were highly effective in reducing sheath blight disease severity and improving the grain yield over other fungicides. Sheath blight (ShB)caused by Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn is one the most important fungal diseases of rice during kharif (wet) season in almost all rice growing areas of West Bengal (Biswas, 2000). Yield losses due to this disease has been reported from 30% - 40% depending upon environment condition, attack on crop stage, cultivars etc. (Ou, 1985). Due to high popularity, Swarna (MTU 7029) - a susceptible variety of rice to sheath blight disease is cultivated widely throughout West Bengal. As a result the disease has spread all over the state in faster rate.
