CONFERENCE ON FOOD AND HEALTH SECURITY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW: ROLE OF AGROCHEMICALS ON MARCH 7-8, 2009 AT AHMEDABAD, ORGANIZED BY SAKET PROJECTS - HIGHLIGHTS

Agrochemicals Policy Group, as a supporting organization, helped the organizers in drawing out the programme and getting eminent speakers from the industry, government and academia. S. Kumarasamy chaired different sessions, presented papers on positive aspects of pesticides and on organic farming and delivered the concluding remarks. Industry members, primarily United Phosphorus, with Excel, Crystal Phosphates, GNFC and GSFC sponsored the event. The Conference was inaugurated by Mr. Dilip Sanghani, Minister for Agriculture & Cooperation, Gujarat. He called for increased use of pesticides to prevent crop losses but advised caution to avoid negative impact on public health & environment.
