The bio-efficacy of Paecilomyces lilacinus (Bio-Nematonl.15% WP) and other biocontrol agents in the control of plant parasitic nematodes (Meloidogyne sp, Radopholus sp. and Heterodera sp) in Banana field was evaluated and reported. Irrespective of thetreatment group, a significant reduction in the population of plant parasitic nematode in treatments as compared to untreated control was evident in this study. The observation on yield attributes for wanted characters such as bunch length, bunch weightand number of hands per bunch were observed to be significantly high in the treatments as compared to control. The treatments involving Paecilomyces lilacinus were observed to be consistent in reducing the plant parasitic Nematode (Meloidogyne sp, Radopholus sp. and Heterodera sp) as compared to the other treatments. The study also revealed that P. lilacinus was highly safe to the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernima carpocapsae. The possibilities of using P. lilacinus as a potential alternative to chemical nematicides in managing the nematode malady in Banana are discussed.
