MANAGEMENT OF COCONUT RHINOCEROS BEETLE Oryctes rhinoceros L.

The different insecticidal dusts and Phorate 10G were evaluated for prophylactic management of coconut rhinoceros beetle at Regional Coconut Research Station, Bhatye from 1998-2003. Phorate 10G at the rate of 25 g recorded 1.03 per cent leaf damage byrhinoceros beetle during the course of investigation and found best in controlling rhinoceros beetle infestation. Methyl parathion 2 per cent and endosulfan 4 per cent dust both at 50 g per palm were second best treatments showing 1.10 and 1.11 per centleaf damage, respectively.
