It's not getting a complete overhaul like the F-150s did last year, but Ford's Super Duty line is receiving a host of upgrades and improvements for '05, most of which are aimed at improving the truck's work abilities. A new frame, with a fully boxed front section, thicker steel, and additional gussets provides the foundation for the revisions. Axle weight ratings have been increased, and the big news is the solid-axle front suspension is now sprung with coils rather than leaf springs. The suspension revisions have an added benefit: The front wheels now turn 18 percent further, says Ford, reducing the truck's turning circle by more than 5(1/2) feet. Changes in steering geometry and a revised power-assist curve improve the truck's steering feel as well.
