EFFECT OF PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS ON PROPAGATION OF FIG (Ficus carica L.) BY HARDWOOD AND SEMI HARDWOOD CUTTINGS

A propagation trial on fig involving two type of cuttings (Hardwood cuttings and semi hardwood cuttings), plant growth regulators IBA (1000,2000 and 3000 mgl"1), NAA (1000,2000, and 3000 mgl"1) and their combination. Among the vairous concentration ofIBA, NAA and their combinations, the application of IBA @ 2000 mgl"1 to hardwood cuttings (CjP2) was most effective with respect to number of days taken for sprouting, percentage of rooted cuttings, length of longest root, length of longest shoot, percentage of sprouted cutting, number of roots per cutting, number of leaves per cutting, fresh biomass of root, dry biomass of root, fresh biomass of shoot and dry bio mass of shoot and survival percentage.
